Good Bye To A Good Friend

A fellow rider, and very good friend of my riding buddy Ron, rode his last ride on Monday Oct 8.  Phil Childrey was riding home to Florida, after a weekend of riding the twisties in western NC with Ron, when a dog ran into his path on I-26 south of Columbia, SC. Phil went down and was run over by a tractor/trailer. Phil rode a BMW K1200S, and he rode with enthusiasm and great pleasure.  I had the pleasure of riding with him several times in Florida, and he always made me laugh with his take on life and the world.  Phil will be missed by all who knew him. He was 48 years young and leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.  Rest in peace Phil...may heaven be full of twisties.

  2. How very sad. Having had to deal with Mike's accident, makes me even sadder for his wife & daughters. Our lives can change with every breath we take. I especially love the last line of your post.....and hope it is true for him.

  3. I'm so sorry for your tragic loss of your friend. But God does provide the Ultimate in our hearts desires....in a place called Eternity. May He comfort you and give you peace.

  5. Phil was my brother too. He was always larger than life and seemed to squeeze so much living in everything he did. I know he loved to ride anything _ cars, motorcycles, bikes. He was fearless. I still can't believe he has died. He will be missed by so many. Thank you for remembering him.

  6. So sad to hear this news, just saw his name referenced in the Dec issue of Repertoire and that he had passed. I worked with Phil for 8 years at Midmark/MDG - he was full of life and, as mentioned, fearless. He loved his life, his wife, his children and family. Although I lost touch with him over the last few years, I never forgot him and mourn his lost. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
